Blue Osprey, LLC is owned and operated by Brent Uhler, DVM, MBA. Dr. Uhler has over 15 years of diversified experience in the areas of veterinary medicine, pharmaceutical sales and development, and investment banking.
Dr. Uhler has both private and corporate small animal practice experience garnering intimate knowledge at both the small (1-3 veterinarians) and large (12-16 veterinarians) private, veterinary practice levels. He also has working familiarity and understanding of corporate based chains, and thereby understands the various obstacles and challenges facing practitioners in each venue.
While with Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, he served various roles in Sales, Marketing, and Strategy. He helped develop their pediatric vaccine and antibiotic line. He assisted in the development, marketing, and launching of FluMist, Wyeth’s intranasal human flu vaccine which was co-marketed with MedImmune.
With Banfield, the largest provider of veterinary services in the world, he owned and managed a corporate-based veterinary facility, learning corporate profit enhancing mechanisms and efficiencies. After selling that franchise back, he served as a Regional Director overseeing field office development, and recruiting.
With a boutique investment banking firm, he served as a lead negotiator/project manager for fiscal and business based evaluation, due diligence, capital formation, merger and acquisition transactions in the 2 to 20 million dollar range. In addition, he became well-versed in financial accounting, analysis and reporting, along with strategy development and compliance requirements associated with Business Development Companies.
Dr. Uhler graduated from Cornell University where he received his Bachelor of Science in Biology/Animal Science in 1991, Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1996, and MBA with concentrations in Marketing and Operations in 2001.
Dr. Uhler maintains active veterinary licenses in 4 states (NY, PA, VA, FL), as well as his DEA license, and also holds a Florida real estate license, which aids in understanding business brokerage and commercial property values. He also serves as an adjunct professor of Finance at the Veterinary Technology School at St. Petersburg College, Florida.
